The application for the P.J. Briggs Scholarship is now open and University Recreation (UREC) encourages all eligible students to apply.
The scholarship was established to honor its namesake, a former UNC Charlotte student who was heavily involved in his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, and in University Recreation before his death in an automobile accident in 1993. The Briggs family established the memorial scholarship, which helps support the role recreation plays in fostering healthy living and academic excellence among college students.
Funding provides the opportunity for UREC to offer one, $5,000 scholarship annually to honor an exceptional student involved in UREC programs and activities.
