The newly created Jim Mabry Scholarship for Residence Life will provide financial support for residential student leaders with demonstrated financial need who have made meaningful contributions to the on-campus, residential experience.
Mabry ’79, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Renasant Bank, provided a $25,000 gift to endow the annual scholarship. As an undergraduate student at UNC Charlotte, Mabry was an active student leader and founding member of the Resident Students Association (RSA), which is the representative body for all residential students. The RSA advocates on behalf of on-campus residents and promotes their engagement as members of a vibrant campus community. RSA also recognizes outstanding residential student leaders with the Jim Mabry Award during an annual leadership and service recognition ceremony.
With more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mabry joined Renasant Bank in August 2020. Previously, he was an executive vice president with South State Corporation and served as managing director leading M&A, strategic advisory and capital markets services for banking companies with Keefe, Bruyette and Woods, a Stifel Company. He began his career with KBW in New York in 1983.
In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University, Mabry earned an MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
The first Jim Mabry Scholarship for Residence Life is expected to be awarded in fall 2022.
