UNC Charlotte’s Niner Finances is partnering with the Beta Alpha Psi honorary organization and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Latino to offer a pair of on-campus events focused on offering free tax preparation services.
“Being able to offer this important service to our community has been a goal of Niner Finances for some time now. Under the leadership of our assistant director Nicole Benford we are now able to bring this national program here on campus,” Dr. Brad Yeckley, director of Niner Finances, said. “In the coming years it is our intention to become an official IRS VITA site. This will allow us to expand our offerings while also training and developing students to become volunteers. We are grateful and fortunate to have been able to partner with a couple of amazing organizations this year, and we look forward to continuing these relationships as we grow this effort.”
The first event, taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18 in the University Career Center, is open to the broader Charlotte community, with an emphasis on Latinx students and community members.
The link to sign up for the March 18 event can be found here.
The second event is on Saturday, April 1, also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Career Center. This event is only open to Charlotte students.
The April 1 event sign-up link can be found here.
Students and staff interested in this free service must have a social security number or ITIN (W7), a valid photo ID and have an earned income of $57,000 or less.
