Steve Torrejon
University Commendations for Leadership and Service Recipient
Steve Torrejon received a double degree with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting. Steve exemplified sustained and engaged leadership across the campus. He served as Chapter President for La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated. Steve also served as a resident advisor for two Halls and a peer mentor for his learning community. His commitment to mentorship didn’t stop at Charlotte; Steve was also responsible for establishing his fraternity’s philanthropy, P.A.T.H.E. (Providing Access to Higher Education). To support these efforts, Steve and his Hermanos attended Wolf Meadow Elementary and Merry Oaks International Elementary weekly and served as mentors to children in need. Additionally, Steve founded the Latinx Organizations Committee (LOC), a committee consisting of all 14 Latinx-based organizations, both Greek and non-Greek lettered organizations. Steve was also responsible for the creation of a new tradition - “The Latinx Tailgate”. He was also a member of and served in different capacities with the Latin American Student Organization, Future Leaders of Accounting, and Leadership Fellows.
