Student Outdoor Event Venue & Tailgate Park - Student Name Contest
A $10 million gift will fund the construction of a campus outdoor complex to provide year-round opportunities for student gatherings, including tailgating prior to Charlotte 49ers football games. The Student Outdoor Event Venue and Tailgate Park is scheduled to open in fall 2022. It will be located close to Richardson Stadium and will accommodate more than 2,500 students.
We want this space for Charlotte students to be named by Charlotte students!
• Submit your ideas to this Google form now through April 1.
• Vote on the top names at vote.charlotte.edu (dates tbd).
• The new name will be announced following the vote.
• Winner receives bragging rights and a $249 Amazon gift card.
You can submit as many ideas as you like. It’s important to note that while the outdoor space features amenities specifically for student tailgating during the football season, it is also a place for year-round entertainment, outdoor learning opportunities and student gatherings. Keep in mind that this is a name of a campus space that should be appropriate and have a long shelf life.

From all Entries, the Review Committee will select a list of fewer than twenty (20) Entries to be considered for a student vote. Selections will be based upon those Entries that are consistent with UNC Charlotte's role and reputation as a public institution of higher education and their perceived appeal to the campus audience.
- The Entries selected by the Review Committee that are included in the list of Entries for student voting will include only the name ideas submitted by the Entrants and will not include the names of the Entrants.
- All currently enrolled UNC Charlotte students (“Eligible Voters”) will have the opportunity to vote among the Entries selected by the Review Committee. Vote dates to be determined.
- The vote will be conducted online at vote.charlotte.edu and will be promoted via direct email to Eligible Voters, the Niner Insider daily campus email, and Student Affairs social media. The voting platform will require a UNC Charlotte student NinerNet login. Eligible Voters may vote for only one Entry and may vote only once.
- The prize winner will be determined by the Entry that receives the most votes at the end of the voting period.
- The Entrant who submitted the winning Entry will be notified through their UNC Charlotte email.

- Prize will be awarded as follows: The University will award one (1) prize valued at $249 (total ARV: $249) to the Entrant who submitted the Entry that collects the most votes.
- The winner will receive an Amazon gift card valued at $249.
- In the event that more than one Entrant submits the same Entry, the prize will be awarded to the Entrant who submitted the name earliest in the Promotion Period.
- Prizes are non-transferrable, and are not redeemable for cash.
- Receipt by the prize winners offered in this incentive campaign is conditioned upon compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and these Rules.
