Since transferring to UNC Charlotte in 2012 from Fayetteville State University, Latonya has held numerous positions over nearly 20 years with the state of North Carolina. Prior to joining the Student Affairs Vice Chancellor's office as executive assistant, Latonya held administrative and executive assistant positions in Cone University Center and Business Services.

Latonya has been involved with the Staff Council at both FSU and UNC Charlotte, and served as delegate for the UNC Staff Assembly for both universities. Latonya is currently a member of the Advisory Committee to the Chancellor for Employee Health and Wellness. She has also served on the University's Racial Equity Taskforce and the Business Services Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee. She is a certified event planning coordinator. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, watching action/suspense movies, enjoying good snacks, singing, listening to music, and dancing. Latonya strives to help others feel valued, respected, encouraged and uplifted.
