Mark Mistretta

Chancellor's Award Recipient

Mark Mistretta received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in December 2024. Mark is a Leadership Fellows program graduate and served as a STAR peer mentor. He was a member of Minority Association for Premedical Students, holding the roles of Event and Service Coordinators, was a Site Leader for a fall Alternative Service Break trip, and joined Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He is the Founding President of Plants for People, an organization developed to help address food insecurity. Plants for People has connected with the Charlotte Green Initiative, Office of Sustainability, and cares for the garden beds at the Jamil Niner Student Pantry. Mark’s recommender shared “Plants for People, under Mark’s leadership, has expanded the garden to four times its original size, adding a greenhouse and community area.” Finally, Mark was also the President of First-Gen Niners.
