Student Niner Media recently updated their office name to Student Niner Media Advising and Support. The change has been made to better reflect that the professional staff members do not run, direct or produce media offered by the student groups advised by the department.
Student Niner Media features six student-led departments including the Niner Times weekly newspaper and Ninertimes.com, Media Marketing, Sanskrit Literary Arts Magazine, Midas Magazine, Media Technical Operations and Uptown Audio. Student Media Board, composed of student voting members, is the governing body for the six departments.
“We are excited to promote our new name as it clearly conveys our focus, which is to advise and provide support to the students who are working in college media,” said Kelly Merges, director of Student Niner Media Advising and Support. The department provides opportunities for students to gain competency in career development in an experiential learning environment.
