Maintenance jobs can sometimes go unnoticed. But Randy Barnhill maintenance technician at the Popp Martin Student Union, had his efforts recognized at the Student Affairs End-of-Year Celebration in May with the Above and Beyond Award for facilities support.

Nicole Piscitelli began her time as Charlotte's new Student Health Center director back in February, but she has been able to see the growth of the University over her nearly two decades of experience in the UNC system.

Larry Gourdine, associate dean and director of Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS), understands firsthand the barriers that many students face at UNC Charlotte. “We solve problems here,” Gourdine said.

As director of the Popp Martin Student Union and Cone University Center, Morgan Meehan has a passion for creating environments that promote 49er engagement. Meehan said she always envisioned herself working with students and quickly obtained experience as a graduate assistant.

The Popp Martin Student Union’s Jeremy Dale first learned the important role that college unions play in students’ lives while an undergraduate at Appalachian State University. Dale, associate director of finance, worked in App State’s Plemmons Student Union from virtually his first day on campus.

Kevin Bailey, from the University of West Florida, was appointed UNC Charlotte’s vice chancellor for student affairs Monday, July 24, 2017. Bailey, who was selected following a national search, is a highly regarded educator who began his 27-year career in student affairs at UNC Charlotte.
